We have half a dozen great case studies that I'll be talking about at New Comms Forum and other conferences in the next few months. Just takes time to collect enough data to be meaningful, analyze it and draw conclusions..</description>

		<description>I think it's a combination of reasons.  One is that there aren't many people doing much meaningful work in the social media realm.  There are drips and drabs here and there, but even the "big social media agencies" aren't doing much beyond a few social media press releases.

Second, Colin is right - it's really hard to get clients to share information.  It's easy to get caught up in the whole "transparency" mantra, but business is business, and they don't typically want to share information about their campaigns and how successful they were.

Third, I think is an inherent property of social media - and that is that it's really hard to show how it directly moved the needle.  It depends on the type of campaign, of course, but for the most part blogging, social networking and community management don't do much to move traditional metrics, and that's not so much an indictment of social media as the metrics that we're addicted to using.

I expect we'll get more case studies out there are more people start doing projects that go beyond sticking something in second life or setting up a blog, but it's going to be a slow evolution.</description>
