I recently posted about several jobs we’re filling at Thornley Fallis Communications and 76design. We’ve filled the account coordinator and consultant positions, but business is booming and we have another new position – for a Senior Consultant in our Social Media practice.
The successful applicant will:
- Play a central role in Thornley Fallis’ social media practice, leading, planning and executing integrated communications campaigns for our clients.
- Lead project teams and win the confidence of the client that you understand the purpose of the project, have assembled the necessary resources and are managing them effectively to achieve the desired results.
- Work closely with colleagues with expertise spanning public relations, social media, web design and development, video production and advertising.
- Set an example of excellence in your communications skills and personal conduct. Be a person who inspires by example.
- Participate in the new business development process from ideation to pitching. We rely on senior members of our practice to help us continue to grow.
- Mentor and guide fellow team members as they develop through their career paths.
Is this you?
- You’re a successful communications professional, with at least five years of experience in communications, public relations or marketing including agency experience. You have a demonstrated track record of implementing creative solutions to solve client problems.
- You have an insatiable thirst for knowledge around digital communications, how it is evolving and how it is affecting our communications landscape. This thirst is clear in your existing online activities.
- You have built up trust relationships with client-side executives who you identify as prospective clients. They will welcome your call and will want to work with you and your new team.
- You possess unique expertise in one or more critical practice areas and you already have demonstrated your thought leadership, through appearances at conferences, blog posts, or published articles.
- You thrive in business development situations – whether it’s networking, planning or presenting to potential clients.
- You can hold your own in the communications planning process and contribute to complex communications planning projects.
- You thrive on challenges and rise to those challenges with enthusiasm and energy.
- You have the writing and planning skills and the attention to detail to set the bar high by example.

When I joined Thornley Fallis Communications in 2008, I quickly found myself paired-up with an account coordinator as we began to build-out our social media practice. Over the following months we worked closely together on pretty much every project I touched, and despite both being extremely stubborn we found we worked well together. I also watched (with a little pride) as she learned and grew, and in September last year I had the pleasure of promoting her to “consultant.”
Unfortunately for us, all good things come to an end. Yesterday was Kerri Birtch’s last day at Thornley Fallis. She leaves behind her a hole that will be challenging to fill as she’s been a central part of our team over the last 18 months. I’m sad to see Kerri go, but proud of her for what she’s become and I wish her the best possible success in her new role (which I’ll let her announce in her own time).
On a related note, I’m pleased to announce (although she beat me to it… twice!) that Jessica Muhlbier will be joining our social media team as an account coordinator next week. While Kerri has left big shoes to fill, Jess has some great experience under her belt and her own distinct set of strengths. We think she’ll be a fantastic addition to the TFC/76design, and look forward to welcoming her to our team on Monday.

Yesterday was an exciting day for us at Thornley Fallis/76design.
Yesterday we welcomed Jeremy Wright onto our team.

Apparently hashtags have a gang...
For those of you who don’t know Jeremy, he was until fairly recently the CEO and co-founder of b5media, the well-known blog network. Since then he’s plied his trade as “digital hitman” at netmobs.
Jeremy is also a personal friend so I’m doubly excited about this move.
This paragraph in Jeremy’s post announcing his move caught my eye:
“Basically I wanted a job where I could be great, be part of a team, have real work/life balance (cause I’d be more inspired that way) and make a difference in the company and for our clients.”
Sounds like a good set of criteria to me, and I’m thrilled he decided that we meet those criteria.
This is the latest in a series of new rockstars to join our team over the last few months. Andrea, Ingrid, Shawn and Mike are already rockin’ the house; we’re excited to add another to the list.
We’ve already noticed a big increase in the number of completely inappropriate hashtags around here…

I’m pleased thrilled to welcome Andrea Pietkiewicz to the Thornley Fallis team.
Andrea joins our social media team this week, bringing with her over 12 years of agency experience with companies such as BBDO and Cossette.
I’m a firm believer that the lines between the communications disciplines are blurring. Public relations agencies no longer compete against each other, and they no longer only need to execute pure PR campaigns – they go up against other types of agencies and are required to plan and sometimes execute cross-functional strategies.
While Andrea shares our vision of social media as a means for long-term engagement, her experience not only adds strength to our social media but also further expands our ability to perform in this evolving environment.

Oh, and Andrea is also a “Master Scuba Diver Trainer” which I believe gets you a jedi robe and a light saber…
Andrea blogs at beyondthebuzz.wordpress.com and you can find her on Twitter at @scubagirl15.
Welcome, Andrea!

Want to join the Thornley Fallis team? We’re hiring a senior Consultant to join our Social Media practice.
We’re growing. Over the last while, we’ve added four new members to our team at Thornley Fallis/76Design. We’ve welcomed a new Creative Director, a new Executive Producer of our Video practice (which is itself a new entity), a new Lead Designer and a new Account Coordinator.
We’re also growing from within – last week, I also had the pleasure of promoting an existing team member (yaaa Kerri!).
As the social media side of our business continues to grow, we are continuing to build our team.

The successful applicant will play a key role as we continue to develop the Social Media practice. You will:
- Play a key role in new business pitches
- Lead client projects from start to finish
- Manage relationships directly with clients

Who we’re after

- Obsesses over achieving measurable results
